Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Maintenance Mechanical Apprentice to support our maintenance team within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on training in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, preparing the apprentice to diagnose, repair, and maintain production equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance technicians in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment issues
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery and systems
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC controls, motors, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Assist with installing, modifying, and upgrading equipment and systems
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance

Learning & Development

  • Participate in structured on-the-job training in mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Develop skills in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and equipment repair
  • Gain exposure to automated manufacturing systems and robotics (if applicable)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and electrical fundamentals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Ability to read technical drawings (preferred but not required)
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Comfortable working around machinery in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial conditions

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Day shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Work is performed in an automotive manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and industrial hazards
