Job Overview
A luxury high-rise waterfront condominium community in Hoboken, NJ, is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and customer-focused Maintenance Assistant to support our team of maintenance professionals.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining beautiful buildings, and wants to build a long-term career in property operations and maintenance. The Maintenance Assistant will perform a variety of general maintenance, preventative maintenance, cleaning, light repairs, and building support duties that help keep our luxury community operating at the highest standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a Maintenance Technician, Assistant Superintendent, or other building operations role.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist the maintenance team with daily work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance projects.
- Perform minor repairs including basic painting, drywall patching, caulking, hardware replacement, and touch-up work.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials throughout the property.
- Support community inspections and help identify maintenance concerns.
- Keep common areas, hallways, amenity spaces, stairwells, and exterior areas clean and presentable.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow and ice removal, storm preparation, and property cleanup.
- Replace light bulbs and perform basic lighting maintenance.
- Help with painting projects, wall preparation, and surface repairs as directed.
- Assist with power washing, trash removal, pressure cleaning, and general property upkeep.
- Monitor building supplies and assist with inventory organization.
- Maintain maintenance shops, storage areas, and equipment in a clean and organized manner.
- Support contractors and vendors working on-site when necessary.
- Respond promptly to resident requests and maintenance concerns.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Participate in emergency response and on-call activities as required.
Qualifications
Required
- 1+ year of maintenance, handyman, construction, custodial, landscaping, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
- Reliable and dependable attendance.
- Positive attitude and team-player mentality.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Preferred
- Experience in residential, condominium, apartment, hotel, or commercial building environments.
- Basic knowledge of painting, carpentry, drywall repair, plumbing, or electrical systems.
- Experience working in occupied residential communities.
- Bi-lingual skills are a plus.

Compensation:
$18.00 per hour
