Heather Hill Health Care Center is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to support the daily operations, safety, and upkeep of our skilled nursing facility.
This role is ideal for someone with maintenance experience who takes pride in keeping a building safe, functional, clean, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors. We are looking for someone who is willing to jump in wherever needed and work collaboratively with the maintenance and leadership teams.

What You’ll Do
- Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of:
- Plumbing
- Electrical systems
- HVAC/heating & cooling systems
- Carpentry and painting projects
- Furniture and equipment repairs
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs as needed
- Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, screens, and other building components
- Facility Appearance & Safety
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the facility and grounds
- Perform heavy custodial duties, including floor care, cleaning utility/storage areas, and maintaining outdoor areas
- Inspect building systems and equipment regularly for proper operation and safety concerns
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or defective equipment immediately
- Operations Support
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, deliveries, and freight handling
- Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and supply inventory
- Assist with maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous chemical labeling/storage
- Support emergency preparedness and respond to maintenance emergencies as needed
- Compliance & Infection Control
- Follow infection control, universal precautions, and facility safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Life Safety, and facility policies and procedures
- Maintain organized and clean work areas at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Previous maintenance, facilities, or repair experience preferred
- Healthcare, skilled nursing, hotel, apartment, or institutional maintenance experience is a plus
Working knowledge of basic:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- HVAC systems
- Painting/carpentry repairs
- Ability to safely use tools and maintenance equipment
- Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Ability to lift, move, and transport heavy items as needed
- Ability to participate in on-call/emergency response as needed
