About Richmond State Hospital:

Richmond State Hospital is about the people we serve and the community relationships we have developed, dating back to 1890. Richmond State Hospital is a public behavioral health facility operated by the state of Indiana and one of six state psychiatric hospitals within the Family and Social Services Administration Division of Mental Health and Addiction. As part of a newly integrated system of state psychiatric hospitals, we serve consumers across the state as the Eastern Center of Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Build, install, and repair structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters hand or power tools.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using different tools
• Coordinate equipment delivery and repairs.
• Repair and refinish free standing furniture.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What Youll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

• Working knowledge of standard practices, processes, procedures, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade.
• Ability to plan, layout and construct carpentry work of average difficulty from work orders, sketches and simple blueprints.
• Ability to skillfully use a variety of hand and power tools, shop woodworking equipment and standard measuring instruments,
• Working knowledge of different woods and the effect of climatic conditions on building materials
• Knowledge of federal, state and local building codes and regulation.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
