Maintenance/Custodian position

Under the direction of the Director of Building & Grounds, assists in providing a safe, clean learning environment for students, staff, and the community. This position will assist in performing regular and preventative maintenance.

Terms of Employment:

  • up to $20.50/ hour
  • 1st Shift 6:30 am - 3:00 p.m.
  • 260-day contract (includes 9 holidays)
  • Vacation time earned by years of service
  • 8 hours per day, 30-minute unpaid lunch

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out approved work requests and preventative maintenance work orders promptly and update maintenance records on equipment. Use of hand and power tools required for the job
  • Maintain the physical facilities of the District by performing a wide variety of general upkeep and repair tasks, including but not limited to: replacing light bulbs, repairing cafeteria tables, roofing, servicing locks and hardware devices, painting, moving and delivering furniture, electrical, HVAC, and care and maintenance of school vehicles
  • Assessing and reporting of safety hazards associated with maintenance of equipment, buildings, parking lots or walkways
  • Knowledge of internal components such as the fire panel, access control system, security system, and public announcement
  • Possess basic computer skills (read/ send emails daily, use of the Internet to obtain information, use electronic work orders, use building automation systems, etc)
  • Perform custodial duties when needed
  • Provide setup, tear down, and cleaning after activities.
  • Move and set up furniture and equipment as requested.
  • Monitor and inspect the building facility for safety and cleanliness.
  • Assist in the maintenance of grounds and athletic fields.
  • Assist with snow removal- shoveling, plowing, snowblowing, salting, etc. From the parking lots and sidewalks
  • Secure the facility by locking doors and windows. Monitor building security throughout the shift.
  • Ensure proper use, identification, mixture, and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Operate large cleaning equipment and assist with floor maintenance and restoration as needed.
  • May manage, track, and organize inventory of tools and parts.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Building & Grounds or District Administrator
