Mountainside School District Beechwood School, 1497 Woodacres Drive, Mountainside, New Jersey 07092 Deerfield School, 302 Central Avenue, Mountainside, New Jersey 07092 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR Posting Date May 14, 2026 Position: Maintenance Custodian Schedule: Full-T ime Day Shift (Monday - Friday) Qualifications: Duties and requireme nts include but are not limited to the following: ? Under the direction of the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial Services, perform varied and routine tasks in cleaning and maintaining the school system s buildings and grounds ? Knowledge of school operation and maintenance; cleaning methods and procedures; heating and ventilation. ? Perform various tasks such as painting, flooring repairs and carpentry work. ? Address minor electrical and plumbing issues, including replacements and installations. ? Utilize work order system effectively , documenting tasks accurately and in a timely manner . ? Conduct routine inspections of building systems including electrical, plumbing and HVAC, fire alarm and intercom systems; ensuring compliance with state and local regulations. ? Clean administrative offices, cafeterias, classrooms, halls, gymnasiums, auditoriums, bathrooms, and other rooms of the school using proper safety protocols with regard to chemicals and sanitary guidelines ? Ensure building and furniture set-up are prepared for use as requested for events ? Collect and dispose of trash in proper receptacles ? Wash and clean windows and floors; polish metal fixtures and trim ? Dust and polish floors, desks, tables, chairs and other furniture, replace light bulbs ? Mow lawns, trim and maintain flower and shrub beds ? Remove snow and spread sand or salt on icy surfaces ? Oil, grease and perform minor repairs on school equipment ? Maintain safe work area by arranging equipment and materials in an orderly manner ? Report any condition in or outside the building to the Supervisor that is in need of repair ? Ability to take direction, work as a group, or independently , without continual supervision ? Good physical health, able to lift at least 50 lbs, and perform assigned tasks ? Must be able to climb a ladder to perform lighting maintenance and other custodial tasks that may require climbing ? Ability to read, write and communicate effectively ? Criminal background check required; Health Physical required and pass a Mantoux Tuberculin test; Valid NJ Driver s License; Black Seal License NOT required _____ Salary: Per MEA Agreement - competitive salary starting at $47,807 and family benefits package including health/dental/vision, NJ PERS Pension, and local union membership.
