Position Overview
The Maintenance Director oversees all physical plant operations, safety compliance, and facility upkeep. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a team, schedule regular maintenance, and ensure total compliance with state, federal, and life safety regulations to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
Facility Oversight: Schedule and ensure completion of all maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs; conduct regular inspections for safety, upkeep, appearance, and equipment performance.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work aligns with State/Federal, OSHA, and NFPA guidelines; maintain readiness for the LTC / Life Safety Survey process.
Team Leadership: Supervise, manage, and mentor maintenance staff while effectively managing time, multi-tasking, and overseeing work order management systems.
Emergency Readiness: Maintain a high proficiency in building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical) and participate in an "on-call" rotation for facility emergencies.
Qualifications
Required:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and building systems.
Compliance: Direct experience with life safety regulations, OSHA standards, and regulatory compliance.
Leadership: Proven supervisory and management experience.
Availability: Ability to be "on-call" as needed.
Preferred:
Prior experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
In-depth knowledge of Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and life safety regulations.
Boiler Operator Certification.
Proficiency with digital work order management systems.
