Maintenance Electrical Technician

JOB SUMMARY

This position performs electrical work on city facilities under the supervision of the Assistant Construction Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Special Requirements:

Master licenses preferred and 10 years of experience. Must be able to troubleshoot equipment failures.Must possess a valid Texas class "C" driver's license or higher.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of HVAC Systems.
• Knowledge of computer software and programs.
• Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, or sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift weights of 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to climb in and out of confined areas and have the ability to climb heights greater than 100 feet.
• Ability to design and build control panels, wire buildings according to plans and specifications.
• Ability to diagnose electrical control problems in City facilities.
• Ability to supply and maintain electrical for downtown concerts and all special events.
• Ability to communicate with vendors, management, contractors and the public in a professional manner.
• Ability to understand and enforce City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to obtain certifications/licenses to perform work assignments.
• Ability to make decisions in the absence of Superintendent.
• Ability to respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.
• Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.
• Ability to understand engineer drawings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
