Summary
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for wiring, assembling, testing, and installing electrical components on production machines, buildings and facilities. This candidate will also be engaged in all aspects of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  1. Perform electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment including facility assets.
  2. Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  3. Identify and correct potential equipment problems using various troubleshooting methods and diagnostic tools.
  4. Install, repair, or service machinery, equipment, and support systems as required.
  5. Participate and comply with all safety, quality, and company policy guidelines.
  6. Maintain plant communications network and associated equipment.
  7. Complete repairs in a timely manner and follow up with manager to ensure work was completed and effective.
  8. Diagnose, test, and modify motor control devices, programable controllers, transformers, and other electrical devices, determine and perform corrective action required.
  9. Determine the correct method and sequence of operation and selection of required materials to be used.
  10. Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions to determine and perform corrective action required.
  11. Install electrical wiring from power panel to equipment at 240V, 400V, and 480V.
  12. Replace, adjust, and calibrate components to align control apparatus to required operating specifications.
  13. Installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components.
  14. Identify and install circuit conductors per NEC rules.
  15. Responsible for complex troubleshooting of industrial and electronic systems on CNC’s, PLC’s, servo drives, and Robotics.
  16. Advanced knowledge of AC/DC circuits, low and high voltage.
  17. Utilize Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management System software.
  18. Arial lift, ladder use and training.
  19. Performing preventative maintenance activities such as lubrication, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components, observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.
  20. Performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other repairs and installations as needed.
  21. Maintaining clean and organized work areas, and at the location of completed and assigned tasks.
  22. Accurately and completely prepare and maintain work order records and data.
  23. Whatever it takes, attitude, excellent teamwork, cooperation, problem solving skills and work habits in a fast-paced environment.
  24. Willingness to fully cross train in other technical areas to enhance personal and department capabilities.
  25. Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends as required.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned by your manager.

Education and/or Experience
  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma, in addition to specialized training.
  • Requires 5+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Requires Journeyman level electrician experience.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, operating instructions, maintenance guides, and procedure manuals.
  • Writes clear, standard documentation.
  • Communicates effectively with contractors and employees.
  • Performs basic mathematical operations and metric conversions.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand electrical schematics, electrical code manuals, routings, and other manufacturing instructions.
Physical Demands

The employee performs maintenance and repair work on machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure. The position requires regular lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, and working in various physical positions while installing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining mechanical systems and building components.
The employee must be able to:
  • Lift and carry items weighing 10–25 lbs. from floor to waist, waist to chest, and chest to overhead for multiple repetitions.
  • Occasionally lift heavier items up to 50–100 lbs. from floor to waist or waist-level surfaces as needed during maintenance activities.
  • Push or pull materials and equipment weighing approximately 25–45 lbs. while adjusting or moving metal sheets/parts on work surfaces.
  • Push or pull loads up to 50 lbs. using equipment such as a pallet jack for distances of approximately 25 feet.
  • Climb ladders and maintain balance while working at heights (at least several rungs).
  • Reach forward, to the sides, and overhead while standing to access tools, equipment, and components.
  • Bend, crouch, and kneel periodically while performing maintenance tasks at floor level or in confined areas.
  • Maintain kneeling or crouched positions briefly while servicing equipment.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday while performing inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
These activities require strength, coordination, and the ability to safely maneuver materials and tools in a maintenance and industrial environment.
Specific vision abilities required in this role include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, necessary for inspecting machinery, identifying maintenance issues, reading measurements or gauges, and safely performing repair and maintenance tasks around equipment and facilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
