Job Description KTBC Fox 7, a Fox‑owned and operated TV station in downtown Austin, TX, is seeking a full‑time, customer service‑focused, team‑oriented Maintenance Engineer.The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining video, audio, and other television broadcast and non‑broadcast equipment, including data networks (SMPTE ST 2110 standards), production control switchers, audio mixers, automation systems, routing switchers, server‑based record and play‑out systems, non‑linear editors, encoders, decoders and multiplexers, newsroom computer systems, media streaming systems, and RF transmission equipment.Responsibilities Provide paramount customer service and collaboration with other departments.Collaborate with an astute engineering team to design, install, test, and document new systems and equipment as assigned.Manage and maintain data networks while conforming to our Information Security Team's strict policies.Perform minor repairs and maintenance to all systems supporting broadcast operations for live and production events.Accurately troubleshoot and repair technical faults quickly to minimize loss of service.Perform software and hardware updates, tests, and installation as required.Provide technical assistance and training to the technical operating staff on day‑to‑day operations and workflows.Practice, teach, and encourage best engineering standards and practices.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements Ability to solve complex problems and concentrate for long periods.Solid working knowledge of broadcast and network systems; experience in RF and fiber optic workflows is desirable.Proactive, not reactive, work style.Team collaborative environment, self‑starter without direct supervision.Flexible with changes in workflows; clear communicator, detail‑oriented and highly organized.Experience in television, radio broadcast engineering, or similar technical disciplines preferred.Associate degree in Engineering/IT preferred, or at least four years of equivalent industry experience.Capable of climbing ladders up to 20 feet, lifting 40 pounds, and working in tight spaces.Ability to work flexible hours and fully onsite (Studio or Transmitter).Valid driver's license and good driving record required to drive company vehicles.Must pass a background check.Equal Opportunity Employment Statement We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
