Job Description
Grace is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to promote a safe working environment, while supporting site maintenance, reliability, electrical, rotating equipment and other engineering functions. The Maintenance Engineer allocates resources to ensure the site is safely and effectively achieving goals and priorities.
The Grace 71st Chicago plant manufactures catalysts used in petroleum refining and specialty petrochemical industries for removing sulfur, nitrogen, and other impurities from crude oil streams.
The Maintenance Engineer is located at 4099 West 71st Street, Chicago, Illinois and reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, track and analyze site equipment issues including reliability issues and bad actor analysis.
- Track and analyze reliability data on critical equipment
- Maintains site equipment lists, assignments and documents in SAP, DMS, etc.
- Work with site rotating equipment SME to develop and update PM, PdM, and CBM routines
- Performs Equipment Availability/Failure Analysis
- Support & facilitate RCAs, SOPs, PHA’s and purchasing functions.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining appropriate engineering records, including SOPs, P&IDs and more
- Responsible for developing, monitoring, evaluating and training employees on site PM programs
- Develop Maintenance Strategies by equipment types
- Identifies and defines reliability improvement projects
- Interfaces with state and govt. regulatory agencies
- Managing multiple projects to successful completion
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in the maintenance and reliability field
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience with process, mechanical, electrical and control systems
- Experience in a safety sensitive environment
- Technical experience with the chemical process industry using
- Experience using Engineering standards and specifications
- Experience using inventory and procurement processes including MRO inventory and purchasing management
- Experience using SAP for work order management and purchasing
- Experience with PSM and ISO programs
