Maintenance Engineer Eligibility List

The City of Aurora is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Maintenance Engineer in the Division of Central Services.

Under general direction, the Maintenance Engineer performs and supervises general maintenance and custodial duties related to the cleaning, maintenance, alteration, and repair of City buildings and grounds.

Other duties of this position include but are not limited to: Perform general maintenance and repairs of power, heating, and cooling systems, equipment, fixtures, furniture, building structures, and machinery; Schedule, perform, and oversee preventive maintenance; Perform maintenance of building grounds; Prepare requisition requests for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies; Maintain the inventory of equipment and supplies; Perform other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates should possess extensive knowledge of operational systems and general maintenance; Ability to operate standard tools and equipment used in general maintenance and repair; Ability to identify the source of malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; Requires three (3) years of experience in building and grounds maintenance and repair; Must also possess a valid driver’s license. 

Candidates must successfully pass all applicable pre-hire requirements, including but not limited to a written Civil Service exam, background check, physical and drug screen*.

* The City of Aurora maintains a drug-free workplace policy. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be required to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. 

This is a full-time, union position. Beginning hourly pay is $37.53/hour, after 6 months $38.37/hour, after 1 year $39.36/hour, and annual increases thereafter.
