Location: Garden City, NY Zip code: 11530 Start Date: Immediate Contract: 6 Months Tags: #MaintenanceEngineerjobs; #GardenCityjobs; Position Summary: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of production equipment, facilities, and systems. This position leads maintenance initiatives, supports troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues, and implements preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime, improve equipment efficiency & effectiveness, and ensure safe manufacturing operations. Duties and Responsibilities: Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Perform comprehensive assessments of production equipment and facility systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability of: Brazing ovens (including Ipsen ovens and core loading), Welding equipment, 3-axis and 3+2/5-axis equipment, Fin fabrication equipment Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency, effectiveness and minimize downtime. Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation. Manufacturing Support & Collaboration: Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Production, and Maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability, readiness and reliability. Provide hands-on support to resolve equipment-related issues on the shop floor. Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance or repairs. Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and machinery. Continuous Improvement & Quality: Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, safety, and process performance. Support lean manufacturing and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Standardize maintenance procedures and best practices across operations. Education & Experience: Bachelor"s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. 7+ years of experience in maintenance engineering within an aerospace manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environment. Working knowledge of Ipsen brazing ovens and processes (formal training/certification is a plus). Experience with automated equipment, CNC machines, or process systems is preferred. Working knowledge of PLC systems, control systems, and industrial automation (a plus). Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems, including braze ovens, pumps, motors, conveyors, and instrumentation.
