The Facilities & Maintenance Associate at St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and functionality of our buildings and grounds in Baton Rouge. Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, this position ensures that our facilities remain clean, operational, and compliant with health and safety standards, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for staff, clients, and visitors alike.
The role requires adept management of multiple projects and competing priorities, utilizing sound judgment while maintaining a strong service-oriented mindset in a dynamic environment. As part of the Facilities Team, you will collaborate with SVDP staff in embracing all works of charity and justice, making no distinction in those we serve. To thrive as a Facilities & Maintenance Associate at St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP), a variety of skills and qualifications are essential. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a preference for candidates who have over five years of experience in facilities maintenance or building operations, ideally in a nonprofit, shelter, healthcare, or institutional setting.
Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair work is vital, as well as the safe operation of hand and power tools. Familiarity with work order systems or maintenance tracking software will enhance your efficiency. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are necessary, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to urgent issues.
