Saras Micro Devices is seeking a highly proactive and skilled Multi-Craft
Maintenance Technician. The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the safe,
reliable operation of R&D and process equipment by performing mechanical
troubleshooting, electrical controls support, routine inspections, preventive
maintenance, equipment setup, documentation, and hands-on repair activities.
This role supports equipment uptime, process flow, and operational readiness
by maintaining industrial machinery, ovens and thermal equipment, motion
systems, process fixtures, and equipment-related utility connections while
working closely with engineering, production, vendors, and cross-functional
teams.

Essential Duties:
Mechanical Systems Diagnosis & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair
mechanical faults in industrial machinery, including motors, pumps,
valves, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, bearings, belts, drive
components, and other machine assemblies.
Electrical Controls & Motion Systems: Read and interpret electrical
schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation to
troubleshoot electrical controls, sensors, interlocks, drives, solenoids actuators, and multi-axis motion systems used in automated process equipment.
Industrial Ovens & Thermal Equipment: Troubleshoot, maintain, and
support industrial ovens and thermal process equipment, including
temperature controls, heating elements, sensors, airflow, interlocks,
and related safety systems.
Equipment Commissioning: Assist in the installation, wiring, and setup
of new process machinery and R&D testing equipment.
Scheduled PMs: Execute daily, weekly, and monthly preventive
maintenance routines on machinery to minimize unplanned downtime.
Routine Equipment Inspections: Conduct regular equipment walk[1]throughs to verify normal operation and identify leaks, abnormal noise,
vibration, wear, low fluid levels, or other signs of equipment issues.
Calibration Program Support: Assist with establishing and maintaining
calibration practices for sensors, gauges, and precision instruments to
improve equipment accuracy, process consistency, and quality control.
Component Replacement: Monitor and replace industrial fluids,
lubricants, worn bearings, and drive belts as dictated by machine cycle
counts or manufacturer specs.
Cross-Functional Support: Work directly alongside engineering and
production teams to identify recurring equipment bottlenecks, optimize
process flow, and research and recommend potential equipment
upgrades.
Custom Fabrication & Machining: Fabricate custom replacement
parts, modify equipment components, and maintain process fixtures
using machining, hand tools, and other appropriate fabrication
methods.
Parts Sourcing: Maintain a critical spare parts inventory for specialized
lab and floor equipment, identifying when to order high-wear
components before they fail.
Vendor Coordination: Escalate complex electrical or mechanical
issues to specialized third-party contractors and oversee their work onsite
Equipment Utility Support: Monitor and maintain equipment-related
utility connections, such as compressed air, process exhaust, cooling
lines, or other support systems required for safe and reliable machine
operation.
OSHA Regulations: Strictly adhere to applicable OSHA regulations and
safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash safety,
machine guarding, and safe work practices before servicing or working
near equipment.
Maintenance Documentation: Accurately document all diagnostic
steps, repairs, preventive maintenance activities, routine inspections,
and parts usage in designated maintenance records to maintain
complete equipment history and support operational continuity.
Working Relationships:
Works closely with process engineering and R&D teams to support
equipment uptime, troubleshooting, process improvements, fixture
maintenance, and equipment readiness.
Partners with research and operations personnel to respond to
equipment issues, support daily work execution, reduce downtime, and
maintain reliable process flow.
Coordinates with vendors, contractors, and equipment service
providers for specialized repairs, technical support, parts sourcing, and
on-site service activities.
Required & Preferred Key Competencies:
Minimum of 5 years of multi-craft maintenance experience in an
industrial setting.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve
mechanical, electrical, and equipment-related issues.
Self-driven approach to continuous improvement, equipment reliability,
and operational support.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to
compose clear emails, maintenance notes, and basic technical
documentation using appropriate grammar and professional language.
