Maintenance Foreman

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises maintenance shop employees. Participates in hiring, training, scheduling and performance management decisions.
Reviews work orders, assigns tasks to employees and verifies the quality of work performed.
Coaches mechanics on techniques and procedures.
Maintains records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed and assures proper data entry into the RTA.
Schedules work to be performed based on routine preventive maintenance inspections.
Procures parts necessary to complete repairs within assigned limits. Refers larger purchases or major repairs to Maintenance Manager.
Conducts employee observations. Discusses findings with employees.
Inspects buses and tools.
Maintains a safe and productive work environment.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Occasionally road tests vehicles to determine repairs needed.
Available to work Night Shift.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required.
Five (5) years progressive heavy-duty fleet mechanical experience
Two (2) years of experience in supervisory capacity as a fleet mechanical supervisor
Have a valid commercial driver's license in the state that you are applying to work in
Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Must have a broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy duty transportation vehicles
Must be familiar with the laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
Must have strong organizational and labor relation skills
Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
