About New Castle Correctional Facility:

New Castle Correctional Facility is a multi‑level security facility in in New Castle, Indiana, with a capacity of 3,200 incarcerated adult males. It is the first DOC‑owned, privately managed correctional facility in Indiana and has been operated by The GEO Group since 2005. The facility houses incarcerated individuals across security levels 1-4, including those with special needs and maximum‑security classifications. Incarcerated individuals have access to medical care, educational services, therapeutic programming, and vocational training. Staff support a rehabilitative approach that promotes accountability and growth. Partnerships help ensure individuals receive services tailored to their needs. Role Overview:

Responsible for preventative maintenance and/or maintenance repair work in a state institution. Supervises a crew of offender maintenance workers following general instructions and standard practices of the trade. Reports to maintenance supervisor.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Oversees and participates in alterations, repairs and general maintenance of state facilities ;
  • Prepares estimates of new or repair projects as directed by supervisor ;
  • Arranges for acquisition and transport of materials and equipment to job site ;
  • Checks materials to determine if they meet specifications ;
  • Inspects maintenance projects to ensure repair work is being properly completed ;
  • Supervises and coordinates maintenance Offender work crews in assigned work ;
  • Provides on-the-job training for unique or special jobs as needed ;
  • Ensures that all safety standards and precautions are followed by all subordinate workers ;
  • Maintains work order log, keeps time record of crew and submits time reports ;
  • Amends work plans as needed to efficiently complete projects ;
  • Performs related tasks as required.

What Youll Need for Success:

Two (2) years' experience in a building or maintenance trade or completion of accredited college/vocational training in a related field.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License.

A degree is not required.

Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
