PRIMARY PURPOSE
Under general supervision, install and replace glass in windows, skylights, store fronts, display cases, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education: A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Certification/License: Valid Drivers license required.
- Special Knowledge/Skills:
- General knowledge of the Maintenance Departments organization and operation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
- Demonstrated general knowledge associated with given craft.
- Demonstrated ability to operate tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Mental Demands: Frequent changes in tasks.
- Irregular work hours schedule.
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions, both day and night.
- Some exposure to hazardous chemicals/fuels.
- High noise level exposure is frequent.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to repair and/or move equipment and objects.
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and moving of objects.
- Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience
One year experience of landscape maintenance or related field is preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Fabricate or install metal sashes or moldings for glass installation using aluminum or steel framing.
- Determine plumb of walls or ceilings using plumb lines and levels.
- Selection of appropriate type and color of glass or mirror according to needs and specifications.
- Fasten glass panes into wood sashes or frames with clips, joints, or moldings, adding weather seals or putty around pane and edges to seal joints.
- Cutting, glass grinding, and polishing when necessary.
- Cut, fit, install, repair, or replace glass or glass substitutes such as plastic or aluminum in building interiors or exteriors, or in furniture or other products.
- Assist with the carpentry department as requested.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
