Maintenance Helper

Primary Function

Assists in the maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of plant equipment, tooling, facilities, and support equipment under the direction and supervision of skilled maintenance personnel. Supports preventive maintenance activities and contributes to the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret basic blueprints, equipment manuals, work instructions, and plant layout drawings.
• Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance activities on production equipment and facility systems.
• Perform routine building and grounds maintenance activities.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment under supervision.
• Perform basic repairs and equipment adjustments as directed.
• Operate material handling and aerial lift equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, as authorized and trained.
• Support skilled trades personnel with maintenance projects, installations, equipment moves, and repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Accurately complete maintenance work orders and required documentation.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintenance training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical training, maintenance coursework, or related work experience preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance instructions and safety procedures.
• Strong attendance, communication, and teamwork skills.

Special Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Must successfully complete any required maintenance proficiency assessments.
• Must understand occupational hazards and safe work practices associated with maintenance activities.
• Must possess good analytical, mechanical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must provide and maintain required personal tools for the position, as applicable.
• Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing, standing, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and moving machinery.
• Ability to safely work at heights using ladders and aerial lift equipment.
