EXPECTED HIRING RANGE:  $20 - $21 per hour

SUMMARY:  
The Maintenance Helper supports by performing routine lubrication, coolant service, preventive maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and basic maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Helper works under the direction of experienced maintenance personnel, assists with repairs and equipment servicing, documents completed work, and develops the mechanical skills necessary for progression within the Maintenance Department.

PRIMARY DUTIES 
Include the following but other duties may be assigned. * 
•    Perform routine lubrication of CNC machines and other production equipment using the specified oils,
     greases, and lubricants according to established schedules and procedures.
•    Check, maintain, and replenish machine oil, hydraulic fluid, way lube, spindle oil, coolant, and other 
     approved fluid levels as assigned.
•    Monitor coolant concentration using approved test equipment and make routine adjustments as directed
     and trained.
•    Inspect lubrication systems, reservoirs, pumps, lines, filters, sight glasses, and related components for
     proper condition and operation; report leaks, low levels, contamination, unusual noises, or other
     abnormalities.
•    Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, cleaning reservoirs and sumps,
     replacing or cleaning strainers, machine cleaning, chip removal, and other repetitive maintenance
     activities.
•    Assist Maintenance Technicians with troubleshooting, repair, installation, removal, and servicing of CNC
     machines, fabrication equipment, pumps, motors, and other shop equipment.
•    Perform basic mechanical maintenance and minor repairs within training and authorization; escalate
     electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, or other complex repairs to qualified maintenance personnel.
•    Clean coolant tanks, machine pans, chip areas, and maintenance work areas; help control oil, coolant,
      and debris accumulation around equipment.
•    Collect, label, handle, transfer, and stage used oil, coolant, filters, absorbents, and other maintenance
      waste in accordance with company procedures and environmental requirements.
•    Use hand tools, portable power tools, pumps, carts, and other maintenance equipment safely and
     properly within the employee’s training and authorization.
•    Assist with movement, setup, and positioning of equipment, parts, tools, and maintenance materials using
     approved material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
•    Follow lockout/tagout, machine guarding, chemical handling, spill response, PPE, and other applicable
     safety procedures. 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, spills, and hazards to the supervisor or manager and
     attend all required safety training.
•    Maintain assigned work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition and support good housekeeping
      practices throughout the facility.
•    Assist other departments and/or work areas as requested by management or supervision.
•    Follow all company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and safety guidelines; report all accidents
      and injuries immediately.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
•    6 months experience in industrial maintenance, machine shop, manufacturing, automotive, mechanical, or
     related experience
•    Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated interest in learning industrial maintenance.
•    Basic knowledge of hand tools and safe tool use; ability to learn the proper use of power tools and
     maintenance equipment.
•    Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, and equipment-specific work
     instructions.
•    Basic math skills and ability to read labels, gauges, fluid levels, and simple maintenance documentation.
•    Ability to work safely around CNC machinery, fabrication equipment, forklifts, cranes, oils, coolants, and
     other industrial hazards.
•    Forklift, aerial lift, or other equipment certification is a plus; training may be provided as required.

EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED preferred. Relevant vocational, trade school, industrial maintenance, machining, mechanical, or technical coursework is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee should have the:
•    Ability to use basic computer systems, tablets, scanners, or other devices used to access work orders,
     preventive maintenance records, and maintenance documentation.
•    Ability to regularly walk and move throughout the manufacturing facility and around machinery and
     equipment.
•    Ability to see, detect, identify, and assess equipment conditions and surroundings within the
     manufacturing facility.
•    Ability to frequently bend, turn, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, push, and pull while performing maintenance
     activities.
•    Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, up to the bulk of the shift.
•    Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; heavier items must be moved using appropriate
     assistance or material-handling equipment.
•    Ability to safely go up and down staircases, ladders, and work platforms as required.
•    Sufficient manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination to use tools, handle lubricants and maintenance
      materials, reach into accessible equipment areas, and perform basic mechanical tasks.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the job. The employee will spend approximately 0% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and approximately 100% of the time in the manufacturing facility. Work is performed around operating CNC machine tools, fabrication equipment, material-handling equipment. Personal protective equipment is required and may include, but is not limited to, safety glasses, safety slip/oil-resistant footwear, gloves appropriate to the task, hearing protection, and other PPE based on the work being performed. The employee must follow all applicable safety procedures and may only perform maintenance tasks for which they have been trained and authorized.
