Position: Maintenance Helper
Location: Washington, DC
Pay Rate: $20 - $30 an hour
Employment Type: Direct Hire - Full-Time, Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 6:00 am 2:30 pm (30-minute uncompensated lunch break)
If you're detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to learn, this hands-on role empowers you to play a key part in maintaining the integrity, safety, and comfort of our facilities. You'll assist skilled tradespeople, perform routine maintenance, and help keep job sites organized and running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities- Support building maintenance and repair tasks: material handling, job site prep and cleanup, simple repairs, patching, painting, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry support, small project assistance, and building protection.
- Assist with the use of basic hand tools and portable power tools as needed.
- Collaborate with maintenance and skilled trades teams to deliver quality service and ensure safety standards.
- Help organize supplies, prepare work areas, and perform basic troubleshooting for facilities issues.
What We're Looking For- Experience: Previous hands-on maintenance, construction, or related work is a plus but not required willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are essential.
- Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Attitude: Commitment to safety, teamwork, service, integrity, and a positive outlook.
- Problem Solving: Ready to tackle challenges, propose solutions, and complete tasks efficiently.
- Communication: Comfortable working with team members, supervisors, and site contacts.
- GSA HSPD-12 Badge: Candidates with an active GSA HSPD-12 badge are strongly preferred; however, all applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain the credential.
