Your role:

Position Summary

The Maintenance Planner & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Approximately 75% of the role is focused on maintenance planning, scheduling, work order management, spare parts inventory control, and procurement support. The remaining 25% involves providing hands-on maintenance support during staffing shortages or major equipment breakdowns.

This role will work a Monday - Friday schedule with hours of 6 am - 3 pm. Overtime is available at times.

The compensation range is roughly $33 - $38 dollars per hour with some flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling (75%)

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities using the CMMS.
  • Create, prioritize, and manage maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, and inventory data within the CMMS.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory levels and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Organize and maintain maintenance stockrooms to ensure critical parts are available and easily accessible.
  • Work closely with maintenance and production teams to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding parts procurement and service requirements.

Maintenance Support (25%)

  • Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting equipment, repairs, and breakdown response as needed.
  • Support maintenance activities during staffing shortages and emergency situations.
  • Identify equipment issues and communicate deficiencies to the Maintenance Supervisor and Production Supervisor.
  • Follow all established maintenance procedures and standards.

Safety & Food Safety Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn and utilized properly.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, company, and food safety requirements.
  • Promote and support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP principles.
  • Ensure employees understand food safety risks within the manufacturing process and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support training efforts related to food safety and safe food handling practices.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Technical Knowledge

Working knowledge of maintenance trades including:

  • Mechanical Systems
  • Electrical Systems
  • Plumbing
  • Millwright/Rigging
  • Carpentry
  • Basic Welding
  • Basic HVAC Systems

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical activities associated with maintenance work.
  • Ability to safely lift and move materials and maintenance parts as required.
  • Ability to respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations.

About you:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in a maintenance-related trade preferred, or a minimum of three years of equivalent maintenance experience.
  • Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, and hygienic manufacturing practices.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and spare parts inventory management.
