Job DescriptionThe City of Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for a Maintenance Worker III or IV – Parks. This is a full-time position with the Saratoga Springs Public Works Department of approximately 40 hours per week. This position performs skilled work pertaining to landscape maintenance and maintenance of Saratoga Springs City parks, streetscapes, park facilities, and other City of Saratoga Springs property. This employee also functions as one of the City's principal "on-call" employees for after-hour emergencies related to area of responsibility and for snow plowing. This position acts as a lead worker for assigned Seasonal Maintenance - Parks employees, providing on-site directions to complete tasks and projects. Monday - Thursday 7:00am to 6:00pm.Works under the specific direction of the Maintenance Supervisor – Parks and the Parks Superintendent, and the general direction of the Public Work Director. All employees are also under the general supervision of the City ManagerJob ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Worker IIIPerform all aspects of turf management, mowing, line trimming, edging, aerating, fertilizing, herbicide spraying, overseeding, and sod replacement using a variety of application equipment and techniquesProvide care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and flowers (i.e. planting and proper pruning)Inspect City parks, play grounds and facilities to identify special maintenance and care needsAssist in the repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and toolsRepair and installs irrigation systemsRemove graffiti and repairs vandalism of City propertyClear snow off park sidewalks, and other City walkways, and assist in snow removal of City streets and facilities. Midpoint - $30.74/hr. Maximum - $35.86/hr.Maintenance Worker IVMinimum - $27.98/hr. Midpoint - $33.58/hr. In addition, the City does not participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are deducted from your paycheck.
