Maintenance InternshipCatallia Mexican Foods is hiring for our Maintenance Internship Program, offering a hands-on learning experience in our Maintenance Department.
Shifts Available: Open to having flexible hours on the following day
Thursday - 1st (6:00am - 2:30pm), 2nd (2:00pm - 10:30pm), 3rd (10:00pm - 6:30am)
Saturday - 1st (6:00am - 2:30pm)
Sunday - 1st (6:00am - 2:30pm) & 3rd (10:00pm - 6:30am)
Position Overview:
This is a hands-on position and will require that the individual be willing to assist and seek guidance in the construction, service, repair, or replacement of equipment and building systems. This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the production and the quality teams to handle emergency repairs while coordinating and executing scheduled maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Contribute to an effective, predictive, and preventive maintenance program (including repair, modification, and installation of equipment) in order to improve production efficiency and ensure optimum machine time availability.
- Regularly inspect plant facilities, production support systems, and equipment in order to support effective plant operation.
- Prepare (inspect, verify condition) all equipment prior to and after use to ensure smooth, sanitary, and safe operation.
- Monitor facilities and equipment for safety (food and teammate) issues and respond appropriately.
- Maintain the facility and manufacturing equipment in a sanitary condition according to Company GMP policies and procedures in order to assure the quality of the manufactured product.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a fully operational maintenance shop by communicating needs and keeping the area neat and organized.
- Help develop SOPs for other maintenance team members and equipment operators.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance team members from other shifts to ensure clarity and continuity.
- Follow instructions as directed by the Maintenance Manager or other plant executives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Promote all plant safety, GMP's and food safety policies and procedures
- Actively participate in Food Safety and Food Defense related activities
- Perform additional duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be able to troubleshoot and identify mechanical problems and respond appropriately.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to process improvement.
- Must provide own basic hand tools (metric & standard).
- Must have previous or current studies related to Industrial Maintenance, Automation and Controls or Electromechanical Technology.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and bend throughout the assigned shift.
- Must be comfortable performing repetitive movements and tasks.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be comfortable working in a hot environment.
- Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in building and facility maintenance including, but not limited to: reading and understanding blueprints, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, hydraulics, welding, painting, flooring, and light carpentry.
- Experience in a food production or bakery environment.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to work alone or on teams.

Position Backup
- Absences covered by other Maintenance Technicians as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or a designee of the Maintenance Manager
