Maintenance Laborer
St. Ambrose University is seeking a dependable and hardworking Maintenance Laborer to join our Facilities team. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
As a member of the Facilities team, you will assist with general maintenance, event support, and seasonal campus projects while working both independently and collaboratively with skilled trades staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel with building maintenance and repair projects.
- Move office equipment, supplies, and materials across campus.
- Participate in snow and ice removal efforts during winter weather events.
- Deliver materials, tools, and supplies to campus locations.
- Assist with setup and teardown of university events, meetings, and special functions.
- Operate hand tools, power equipment, and university vehicles safely and effectively.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and attractive campus environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Experience with maintenance, construction, or related work is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to perform physical labor including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
