Position Summary

The Maintenance Laborer is responsible for maintaining the physical condition of buildings within KIC Facilities and ensuring they are always in optimum operating condition.

Responsibilities

• Follow all directions from the supervisor and work cooperatively and positively with team members.
• Prepare work areas before maintenance tasks and clean up afterward.
• Perform minor preventative maintenance as directed.
• Assist with carpet and linoleum removal and installation.
• Perform interior and exterior painting preparations, including drywall preparation.
• Complete and document assigned work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Remove snow/ice from entrances of all company-owned buildings as needed.
• Safety operate all hand and power tools and secure when not in use.
• Measure, cut, and nail (or fasten) materials as required.
• Use proper rigging and lifting techniques as required.
• Perform light duty cleaning as needed or required.
• Observe all applicable safety rules, regulations, and company procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Diploma / GED required or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• 1 year experience as a laborer in a maintenance field preferred.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and safety.
• Must be able to safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
• General knowledge of building maintenance preferred.

Working Environment

This is a fast-paced environment requiring regular, dependable attendance. Work may require occasional overtime. While performing job duties, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety gear is required.

• Ability to walk, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
• Ability to use arms, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment and reach above, or below shoulder level.
• Communicate clearly in person and over the phone.
• Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, or use sense of smell.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds regularly, 75 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to see clearly at near and far distances, with peripheral and central vision that allows perception of color, depth, distance, and motion.
