Maintenance Lead

Jacobs Stone Products is seeking a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Lead to join our maintenance team in San Saba, Texas.
This is not a maintenance manager or supervisor position. The Maintenance Lead works alongside the rest of the maintenance team and is expected to spend a significant portion of the day actively troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
In addition to hands-on maintenance work, this position has added responsibility for helping manage maintenance work orders, monitoring preventative maintenance, assisting with basic maintenance planning, using MaintainX, and ordering parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on production equipment, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other company assets.
- Repair and maintain saws, conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and other production machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel-related problems.
- Troubleshoot electrical shorts, wiring failures, relays, switches, sensors, lighting, charging systems, and equipment controls.
- Maintain and repair loaders, skid steers, wheel loaders, haul trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Service and repair company trucks and trailers, including Class 8 trucks.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and general shop repairs as needed.
- Complete assigned work orders and preventative maintenance as an active member of the maintenance team.
- Review incoming maintenance requests in MaintainX and help keep the work-order system organized and current.
- Monitor open, pending, overdue, and completed work orders.
- Help distribute work orders among maintenance team members based on urgency, workload, and skill requirements.
- Assist with basic maintenance planning by helping identify needed labor, parts, tools, and equipment downtime.
- Monitor preventative maintenance schedules and help ensure PM work is completed and documented.
- Identify and order parts, materials, and maintenance supplies needed for repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Research correct part numbers, compare pricing and availability, and use good judgment when purchasing parts.
- Follow up on backorders, returns, warranty claims, and vendor credits when needed.
- Maintain accurate repair, parts, and maintenance records.
- Communicate significant equipment problems, recurring failures, major repair needs, and maintenance concerns to the General Manager.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on mechanical and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, diesel repair, heavy equipment maintenance, fleet maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong electrical and wiring diagnostic skills.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and production equipment.
- Experience with motors, pumps, bearings, belts, conveyors, gearboxes, and similar machinery.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical information.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, smartphones, and electronic work-order systems.
- Experience with MaintainX or another CMMS is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple maintenance needs and open work orders on track.
- Ability to work independently while also working closely with the maintenance team.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience with Tier 4 diesel systems, heavy equipment, or Class 8 trucks is a plus.
- ASE, diesel mechanic, industrial maintenance, or related certification is preferred but not required.
- Quarry, mining, manufacturing, stone fabrication, or other heavy industrial experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and handle heavy tools, parts, and equipment components.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work around machinery for extended periods.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in shop, production, quarry, yard, and fleet environments.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday-Friday
- Rotating Saturday schedule
- Additional hours may occasionally be required based on operational needs
- In-person position in San Saba, Texas
