ROLE OVERVIEW: The Maintenance Manager will oversee a broad scope of services supporting maintenance and production processes within a manufacturing facility. This position involves leading central operations such as the Machine Shop, Truck Repair Shop, and Roll Shops while driving initiatives related to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and cost control. The Maintenance Manager is a key player in optimizing productivity, asset management, team development, and operational excellence using lean methodologies like TPM, Kaizen, 5S, and daily management practices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and lead Central Shops, including machine repair, mobile equipment maintenance, and roll assembly operations, to ensure safe and efficient functionality. Drive continuous improvements in turnaround times, equipment reliability, and quality inspections through targeted metrics and training programs. Manage cost-control initiatives for plant-wide Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) expenses and energy savings to meet annual financial goals. Lead department-wide EHS strategies and daily management in collaboration with the EHS Coordinator. Supervise and develop salaried and hourly team members, including technicians, planners, machinists, roll grinders, mechanics, and apprentices. Enhance workforce maturity and team effectiveness by coaching, mentoring, and implementing performance management processes. Foster collaboration and relationships across departments, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Prepare and present detailed business plans, updates, and proposals to drive improvements and achieve department goals. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering. At least five years of experience in machine repair, maintenance management, and manufacturing processes. A minimum of three years managing departments, supervising salaried teams and hourly staff, and delivering measurable KPI improvements. Three or more years of experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets. Proven ability to lead organizational change and cost reduction initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for interactions with all organizational levels, from craft workers to executive leadership. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in Business, Finance, or Manufacturing Engineering. Five years of experience managing plant-wide budgets exceeding $50M annually, achieving cost reduction goals. Expertise in labor relations and union contract negotiations. Excellent interpersonal skills and networking abilities. Advanced logistical and planning skills for complex operational strategies.
