Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Client Park, IL 60064
Job Type: 12 Months of Contract + possible extension
Schedule : 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday Friday

Position Summary
  • Maintenance Mechanic to support the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of plant electrical, mechanical, processing, packaging, filling, and utility systems. The primary objective of this role is to maintain manufacturing equipment and facility systems in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner while minimizing downtime and supporting production goals. The Maintenance Mechanic will serve as a technical resource to manufacturing, engineering, and support teams while ensuring compliance with FDA, GMP, OSHA, USDA, and Client quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and plant utility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex high-speed manufacturing, filling, packaging, and conveying equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve production equipment failures to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  • Repair and rebuild pumps, gearboxes, gear reducers, electric motors, and mechanical drive systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain piping systems including stainless steel, black iron, copper, PVC, and flexible tubing.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including AC/DC motors, switches, timers, solenoids, disconnects, push buttons, and motor controls.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work using stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, sheet metal, and Lexan materials.
  • Repair and maintain barcode scanners, inkjet printers, and related production support equipment.
  • Manage assigned preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate maintenance documentation.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address equipment stoppages and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist outside contractors and vendors during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain inventory levels of spare parts and identify material requirements for equipment repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, GMP, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and company policies.

Required Experience
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical, medical device, or regulated production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed production, packaging, filling, and conveying equipment.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance activities.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification, vocational training, or Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
