Job Summary

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, possesses knowledge to apply maintenance trade technical information and conduct repairs to a wide variety of systems within the Pip Moyer Recreation Center at Truxtun Park. Demonstrated ability to safely operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair or arrange for repair of tools, equipment and machinery used in multiple maintenance duties.

Essential Job Functions

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor, this employee will perform preventative and corrective maintenance functions on electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry throughout the Truxtun Park Recreation Facility and Stanton Community Center. Perform monthly facility inspections to ensure a safe, clean and pleasing environment for the best interest of facility users and members.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

• Performs semi skilled plumbing, corrective and preventative maintenance using tools and equipment as required.
• Clean and unclog drains and toilets, repair water faucets, and perform the installation of minor plumbing fixtures.
• Performs semi skilled carpentry, corrective and preventative maintenance in all of the following areas, using tools and equipment as required: building shelves and cabinets, installs and repairs suspended ceiling tiles, installs and repairs various paints and surface finishes.
• Performs semi skilled electrical maintenance on receptacles, light switches, portable tools, appliances and office machines.
• Observes all local, state and federal laws and regulations, Equipment Manufacturer and City of Annapolis safety regulations with respect to personal protective equipment, performance of work, and safe equipment operations and waste resources.
• Maintains a professional, welcoming, and orderly environment to ensure visitor comfort.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to complete work order request Must possess excellent communication skills and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Must have an eye for detail with regard to appearance of the facility maintenance. Three years in one or more related trades, preferably in a maintenance organization with a formal preventative maintenance program. High School Diploma and/or trade school coursework. Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record with no more than two (2) points.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Consideration will be given to prospective candidates who exemplify a combination of experience and training which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Employment Conditions

Physical ability: strength and agility sufficient to lift and maneuver heavy objects such as small, medium to heavy tools and equipment; ability to withstand working inside or outside in all extreme weather conditions.

Visual ability: sufficient to read and write reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.

Hearing ability: sufficient to understand radio transmissions, conversation with other individuals both in person and over a telephone.

Speaking ability: sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person, over a telephone and over a radio.

Freedom from mental disorders which would interfere with performance of duties as described

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an environment with small to heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to self, co-workers or others. Work is performed in all weather conditions.
