Maintenance Mechanic – Food Manufacturing
Location: Bakersfield, CA
Compensation: $27–$40/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-time | Onsite | Direct Hire

Hire Up Staffing is partnering with a well-established food manufacturing facility near Bakersfield, CA to hire an experienced Maintenance Mechanic with strong electrical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience in food or high-speed manufacturing environments. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable production operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems confidently, including motors, sensors, VFDs, control panels, and production equipment.

  • Diagnose and repair pumps, conveyance systems, boilers, compressors, and other process equipment commonly found in food manufacturing.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly and accurately to minimize downtime.

  • Support predictive maintenance efforts using tools such as thermal imaging, vibration analysis, and ultrasonic testing.

  • Fabricate, repair, and modify parts using welding, cutting, and shop equipment.

  • Follow all safety procedures including LOTO, confined space, hot work, and food safety requirements.

  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency.

  • Accurately document maintenance work, repairs, and inspections in the CMMS.

  • Assist with training operators and junior maintenance staff as needed.
Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.

  • Strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability is required (this role will not be a fit for candidates with primarily mechanical-only experience).

  • Proven experience working with pumps, conveyors, boilers, motors, and production processing equipment.

  • Welding and fabrication experience required.

  • Ability to troubleshoot independently, communicate clearly, and work confidently in a fast-paced production setting.

  • Strong safety mindset and adherence to GMP and facility procedures.
