Maintenance Mechanic

HiFyve is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic in the industrial manufacturing industry in Calumet City, IL!

Salary: $43.41/hour + annual bonus potential of 4%

Shift: Rotating shifts covering midnights, days, and afternoons; includes weekends and holidays in a 24/7 operation

Location: Calumet City, IL

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant utility systems, including boilers, treatment ponds, chillers, cooling towers, and air compressors.
• Safely perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment, including pumps, agitators, and valves.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and identify appropriate repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Complete assigned work orders accurately using the maintenance database system.
• Operate forklifts to move materials, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Monitor and report inventories of maintenance materials and supplies to support efficient cost control.
• Follow established safety requirements when working around hazardous and flammable chemicals and process equipment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and operations personnel to support reliable plant operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude supported by a consistent work history.
• Previous maintenance or mechanical experience; 3+ years is preferred.
• Experience working in a PSM-regulated environment is preferred.
• Three years of experience working with hazardous and flammable chemicals is preferred.
• Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, including midnights, days, afternoons, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to use a computerized maintenance database to complete and document work orders.
• Ability to successfully complete computer-based training.
• Strong communication skills with a self-motivated, positive, team-oriented approach.
• Safe driving experience and forklift certification are preferred.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
