Job Summary

Join our team in Davenport, a vibrant city known for its rich history, cultural attractions, and welcoming community. We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining large industrial textile processing equipment, as well as performing facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Start-up and shut-down of plant machinery daily.
  • Safely operate the boiler and all boiler room equipment, including performing water and boiler tests.
  • Install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance inspections on industrial processing equipment, water levels, water systems, and other systems.
  • Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Thoroughly clean machines and machine parts, removing and reinstalling parts as necessary.
  • Oil and lubricate moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Order and install replacement parts for machines.
  • Identify causes of unexpected machine breakdowns and repair them efficiently.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies by cleaning, organizing, inventorying, and stocking.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Respond to daily maintenance requests promptly to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with product managers or plant engineers regarding new products and required modifications.
  • Make necessary modifications, implement test runs, and confer with product managers regarding test results.
  • Program PLCs.
  • Maintain and repair trucks as needed.
  • Perform lockout/tagout and other safety procedures.
  • Maintain the chemical room.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work in all areas of maintenance as needed, including janitorial tasks.
  • Meet established productivity standards.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize the CMMS system to log all work and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Have a good understanding of computer-based programming (PLC).
  • Work individually or assist other team members in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Operate scissor lift, boom lift, and forklift safely.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
  • Stay current on equipment and repair procedures and best practices.
  • Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine the correct operation of machinery.
  • Be proficient in reading electrical schematics.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
  • Work well with a diverse workforce.
