Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, preventive maintenance experience, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.

 

Job Description

  • Perform diverse maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment.
  • Complete emergency repairs, unscheduled maintenance, and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs on production machinery.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service activities.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, test equipment, and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance and basic carpentry functions as needed throughout the facility.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, or unusual conditions and report findings to supervision.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas while complying with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Coordinate and support outside contractor activities when required.
  • Complete administrative duties including preventive maintenance documentation and purchase requisitions.
  • Assist with maintaining plant security and facility inspections.
  • Dispose of waste materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Support plant safety initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Assist with general plant housekeeping and facility appearance.
  • Operate floor scrubbers and other facility maintenance equipment.
  • Comply with OSHA requirements and all company safety policies related to powered industrial equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Shift: 1st shift hours (6am-2pm) with overtime based on downtime conditions

 

Skills Required

  • Experience in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with: Vertical post mixers, Air-operated diaphragm pumps, Centrifugal pumps, Positive displacement pumps, Three-roll mills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance systems and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong attention to safety, organization, and detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment and materials as required.
  • Comfortable working in industrial manufacturing environments around moving machinery and equipment.

 

Education

  • Highschool diploma or GED

 

Salary

  • $28 - $35 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
