Job Position: Maintenance Mechanic Job Location: Stone Mountain, GA Reports To: Maintenance Manager Job Summary: The Senior Maintenance position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager in safety, scheduling, standard operating procedures, external vendors, and plant capital projects. Leads work assignments, training, and provides overall assistance and instructions of shift maintenance mechanics. Develops Maintenance Team on proficiency of duties and safety. Provides SOPs and ensures equipment is operational and standardized. Core Job Responsibilities: - Oversee and direct the activities of shift mechanics and external contractors.
- Coordinates the monthly and annual plant inspections; ensures corrective actions are completed.
- Partners with maintenance team and contractors in following WinCup’s safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures OSHA compliant of monthly and annual training of maintenance staff and other applicable plant team.
- Assists Maintenance Manager in the administration of the plant preventive maintenance program to ensure effectiveness on minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Maintain efficient, accurate and timely records and reports relating to all projects and equipment within the manufacturing facility.
- Assists Maintenance Manager in the development of specifications of equipment; assist in the selection, purchase, and installation of the equipment in the plant.
- Willingness to work unusual hours, including some holidays, weekends or nights in emergencies.
- With guidance of Maintenance Manager, coordinates the department scheduling of down time for repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Participates in the departmental goals to sustain optimization of targeted goals.
- Works closely with Maintenance Manager on budgets and labor cost.
- Evaluates facility maintenance and plant equipment i.e. HVAC, compressors, boilers, towers, electrical distribution, docks, doors, parking lots, sewers, etc.).
- Works on designated reporting of daily, weekly and monthly testing statistics.
- Works with Lead Maintenance in SOPs and recordkeeping of all work performed on all plant equipment.
- Determines and communicates with Maintenance Manager on purchasing required parts and components to repair and maintain equipment and building.
- Initiates, recommends, and implements process and equipment improvements.
- Assists all Supervisors, Managers, and plant leadership in undertaking special projects.
- Assists in other departmental areas resolving equipment problems and discrepancies.
- Ensures maintenance team completes standardization of safety, sanitation and housekeeping requirements.
- Responsible for communicating to the leadership team immediately of any failure to meet established quality standards to ensure required training and action.
- Notifies the Maintenance Manager, Lead, and team members on any adjustments of repairs that are outside of their scope of responsibility or ability to repair.
- Perform all work in a safe manner to include performing lock-out/tag-out of equipment before making any repairs or adjustments.
- Fills in periodically as Maintenance Manager for Operational Excellence meetings and any other applicable staff and training sessions.
- Performs additional assignments and/or special projects that may require physical activity beyond those required functions of the job.
- Follows all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment and tools.
- Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.
- Follows WinCup OPERA Values, safety initiatives, and other related plant standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Competencies: - Ability to follow directives with STM leadership, managers, supervisors, in ensuring productivity and target levels are sustained.
- Ensures all company policies and procedures including manufacturing and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Collaboration with plant, safety, and leadership.
- Ability to complete mandated new manufacturing training on equipment to maximize output efficiencies.
- Supports all current and new product introductions.
Education and Qualifications: - High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred or equivalent experience.
- 5 years industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in leading a maintenance team.
- Mechanical aptitude of sound judgement.
- Mathematical knowledge and ability to read and interpret drawing and schematics.
- Proficient in troubleshoots and implementation of SOPs.
- Knowledge of boilers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, HVAC units, electronics/electricity, building construction, welding, conveyors, etc.
- Basic PC skills including Excel and use of web based applications to use FedEx, UPS and print labels.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
- Must be able to speak, read and write English in order to complete job specific paperwork.
- Ability to work independently and function as a team member.
- Good planning and organizing skills.
- Work mandatory overtime, early morning, late evenings and weekends when required during busy season, inventory, and for vacation coverage.
Working Conditions: - In-doors in a manufacturing and/or environment that is not air-conditioned.
- Exposure to extreme heat.
- Wear PPE while working which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.
- May work 8 hour shift or 12 hour shift that begins at 6:50 a.m. for dayshift or a nightshift that begins 6:50 p.m.
- Required to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as needed.
- Subject to on-call, activity to ensure equipment is functional.
Physical Demands: - Work 8 or 12-hour shift while standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping and lifting throughout the entire shift.
- Requires the manual movement of cases of finished goods and other objects such as bagger film that weight up to 40 pounds.
- 100% tobacco free workplace on all Company premises. Designated outside smoking area provided and must be followed.
