  • 1st Shift (5am-5:30pm)
  • Monday-Thursday

Position Summary

The Maintenance & Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems in a custom rubber molding manufacturing environment. This position ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports safe, efficient production through preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on rubber molding presses, mixers, mills, ovens, trimming equipment, conveyors, compressors, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems and perform timely repairs.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with automation-related issues when needed.
  • Repair or replace motors, pumps, valves, bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains, cylinders, and other machine components.
  • Install and commission new production equipment and assist with equipment relocations.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures before they occur.
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately and document repairs, parts used, and equipment downtime.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and recommend replacement parts as needed.
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, machine guarding requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Respond quickly to production equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Assist production personnel in troubleshooting equipment operating issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Maintain clean and organized maintenance work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, trade certification, or equivalent maintenance experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in rubber molding, plastics, or similar manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance records and work orders.

Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Electrical troubleshooting (120V–480V preferred).
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic system repair.
  • Fabrication and machining experience.
  • Conveyor and power transmission maintenance.
  • PLC troubleshooting (preferred).
  • Preventative maintenance planning.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple repair requests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work around heat, noise, dust, rubber compounds, oils, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency repairs as needed.
