Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on trailers and transportation equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring trailers remain safe and roadworthy. Travel to customer locations or service sites may be required.
Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers, chassis, and transportation equipment
Perform preventive maintenance on brakes, suspension systems, wheel assemblies, lighting systems, and trailer components
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues
Replace damaged or worn parts including brake components, bearings, air lines, lights, mud flaps, and suspension parts
Conduct trailer inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards
Perform welding, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as needed
Use hand tools, power tools, air tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
Assist with emergency repairs and service calls when required
Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
Communicate with supervisors, drivers, and customers regarding repair status and maintenance needs
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in trailer repair, fleet maintenance, diesel mechanics, or a related mechanical field preferred
Knowledge of trailer brake systems, air systems, suspension systems, lighting, and DOT regulations
Experience with welding, fabrication, and trailer structural repairs preferred
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools
Ability to lift heavy components and work in shop and outdoor environments
Valid driver's license preferred
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team
