Maintenance Mechanic II, Dairy Manufacturing
Location: Clackamas, OR 97015
Pay Rate: Up to $36.97 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Shift:3rd Shift / Graveyard, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
Weekend Requirement: Must be available to work at least one weekend day and overtime as needed
Assignment Type: Temporary with potential for extension and conversion to full-time employment

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic II to support operations at a dairy manufacturing facility in Clackamas, Oregon. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled industrial maintenance professional with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.
 
In this role, you will help maximize equipment reliability and plant efficiency by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. You will also perform preventive maintenance and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
 
Candidates must be flexible with scheduling, particularly during the probationary period, and may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime with appropriate notice.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot, repair, change over, and maintain plant production equipment
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues
• Work with conveyors, compressors, chillers, VFDs, PLCs, robotics, boilers, wastewater systems, and related production equipment
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections
• Diagnose equipment problems using blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
• Dismantle and reassemble machinery to repair or replace components
• Perform equipment rebuilding and fabrication as needed
• Perform mild and stainless-steel welding, including sanitary welding
• Investigate electrical and instrumentation equipment failures and develop corrective action plans to reduce recurring issues
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly and complete required maintenance reports and work orders
• Maintain equipment to support maximum operational efficiency and minimize downtime
• Identify and implement operational improvements related to downtime, spoilage, line speed, and equipment performance
• Work effectively with vendors and contractors when required
• Coordinate the ordering of necessary spare parts and services
• Maintain organized spare-parts inventory and maintenance areas
• Train team members on the safe and efficient operation of equipment
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records
• Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and all applicable safety requirements
• Maintain strong housekeeping, GMP, and Global Food Safety practices
• Continuously monitor and physically inspect production equipment
• Complete special projects and other duties within the scope of the position as assigned
 
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical repair
• Knowledge of fabrication, machine shop tools, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a larger production and maintenance team
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently bend, stoop, twist, and turn
• Manual dexterity, physical coordination, and good balance
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require
• Must be eligible to work for an indefinite duration without limitations on work authorization
 
Preferred Qualifications
• LME, Limited Maintenance Electrical, License
• OSHA 10 certification
• CPR certification
• Previous experience operating pallet jacks and forklifts
• Previous forklift certification
 
Candidates who operate a forklift must complete required facility certification before operating equipment onsite.
 
Additional Information
This assignment has the potential to be extended and may be converted to a full-time position. Candidates who convert to full-time employment will be required to join the onsite union.
 
The hourly pay rate is up to $36.97 per hour. Candidates must meet the applicable experience and qualification requirements to be considered for the maximum rate.
