Site Overview Our West Chicago, Illinois facility is a union manufacturing plant with approximately 141 employees. The site specializes in producing polyurethane foam and other foam products. As a key location within FXIs manufacturing network, the West Chicago plant is known for its strong focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence. Team members work in a collaborative, supportive environment where continuous improvement and innovation play a central role.

Job Overview As a Maintenance Mechanic III, you will partner with the Maintenance Manager and other Maintenance Mechanics to provide day-to-day support to all our production departments. The Maintenance Mechanic will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of all plant machinery, equipment, building, and grounds with little or no supervision or assistance. The individual must be able to work independently and perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read mechanical drawings for layout work.
  • Cuts and fits threaded pipe.
  • Welds steel and stainless steel using MIG, TIG, or stick.
  • Reads and understands basic electrical wiring schematics.
  • Uses Voltmeter and amp meter to perform electrical troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic operations of all plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic and hydraulic system components on plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs both electrical and LPG/Gas forklift system components.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical issues on plant equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks on all plant equipment.
  • Follow 5S and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must meet all requirements for Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient electrical aptitude.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to use job-appropriate tools.
  • Proficiency in investigating, deducing, and recommending corrective actions for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems required.
  • Proficiency in investigating and troubleshooting AC/DC motors and drives, motor controls.
  • Knowledge in single and three-phase Vac/DC power and control circuits.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
