    Maintenance Mechanic – Hicksville, NY (On-Site) | 2nd Shift | 1-Month Contract

    Location: Hicksville, NY
    Job Type: 5-Month Contract
    Shift: 2nd Shift – 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM (Monday–Friday, Some Weekends Required)
    Work Setting: 100% On-Site

    Maintenance Mechanic Jobs in Hicksville, NY

    Sigma Inc. is hiring an experienced Maintenance Mechanic for a 1-month contract in Hicksville, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing equipment repair, mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, power tools, and facility maintenance.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Diagnose equipment problems and determine necessary repairs and adjustments.
    • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
    • Repair, rebuild, overhaul, adjust, and maintain industrial machinery.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment to minimize downtime.
    • Complete maintenance work orders and accurately document repairs, labor, and parts used in the maintenance management system.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop.
    • Operate hand tools, power tools, and a manlift safely.
    • Perform facility maintenance as assigned.
    • Follow all OSHA and workplace safety procedures.
    • Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

    Required Qualifications

    • Previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Technician, Facilities Maintenance Technician, or similar role.
    • Experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing or industrial equipment.
    • Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, equipment drawings, and specifications.
    • Experience using hand tools and power tools.
    • Ability to complete maintenance documentation and work orders.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English or Spanish for onsite safety requirements.

    Physical Requirements

    • Stand for the entire shift.
    • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Work in a manufacturing environment with continuous noise.
    • Work around moving machinery.
    • Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures.
    • May work in confined spaces.
    • May work at heights greater than 8 feet using a manlift.
    • May be required to wear a respirator.

    Required Safety Equipment

    • Steel Toe Shoes are required on Day One.

    Schedule

    • 2nd Shift
    • 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM
    • Monday through Friday
    • Overtime and weekends may be required based on production needs.

    Pre-Employment Requirements

    Employment is contingent upon successfully completing:

    • Drug Screening

    Both must be completed before starting the assignment.
