Description of Work
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. The Maintenance Mechanic IV position is responsible for performing preventative and routine corrective maintenance tasks at a correctional institution; ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position performs a variety of trades at the semi-skilled level and at least two mechanical trades or a combination mechanical and higher-level building trades performed fully at the journey level. This position performs operating, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance on assigned systems and equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position supervises the work of semi-skilled, unskilled or skilled workers (including inmates) to assist in the completion of job assignments as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences:
Salary range is 41,206.00 - $72,113.00

* Knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance
* Documented knowledge of journey level skills in at least 2 or more of these trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Kitchen Equipment)

About the Division of Institutions:
The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
