Maintenance Mechanic Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings, and mechanical systems. This position reports directly to the Mechanical Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure all repairs and calibrations are in compliance with all company and industrial regulations, policies, and procedures. Inspect, operate, or test equipment. Work with the Maintenance Planner to schedule and complete preventive maintenance on equipment. Assemble, install, or repair pipe & plumbing systems. Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments. Monitor parts inventory levels and communicate any issues to the Maintenance Planner. Enter & complete work orders in the system. Assist with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures. Identify potential safety issues and make recommendations for action or resolution. Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop. Aid in Emergency Response, HAZMAT, Confined Space Rescue, and First Aid. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
To be eligible for this position, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. Two years of apprenticeship, vocational experience, or education is preferred. Industrial, explosive, or chemical manufacturing experience is also preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
The successful candidate must possess the following skills and knowledge: • Ability to effectively communicate with various departments and team members. • Ability to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, lift and carry up to 50Ibs, and work at heights. • Ability to use various hand & power tools. • Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs. • Ability to work overtime as needed, including holidays and weekends. • Familiarity with CMMS software and other required applications. • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills. • Basic math skills. • Reading and comprehension skills.
Work Environment
This position will be exposed to all elements of the weather on the plant site.
