Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Chief of Plant Operations I, the Maintenance Mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs plumbing, heating, water and sewer systems. The incumbent performs minor electrical maintenance and repair work, maintains repair shop and automotive equipment, performs miscellaneous minor building construction and repair work, miscellaneous interior and exterior painting; estimates and requisitions materials and supplies, keeps tools and equipment in good condition, and keeps records and prepares reports. This position may work in conjunction with or lead traditional guardsmen. This position requires highly trained individuals with a strong sense of safety, and able to perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance tasks.
