Maintenance Mechanic (Transportation and Public Works)

Minimum Qualifications

Eighth grade. One year of skilled maintenance and repair experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, machinery, construction or building maintenance trade is required. Must possess a CDL/Class A with tanker endorsement or obtain a CDL/Class A with tanker endorsement prior to the completion of the probationary period. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Employees in this position perform skilled level general trades functions and repairs to stormwater machinery and associated mechanical work, troubleshoot repairs, and overhaul of diesel engines, generators and auxiliary equipment, at the direction of the Supervisor and assists the Systems Technician in daily activities as required.

This position operates specialized equipment and performs other related general maintenance tasks based on departmental needs. Position is categorized as Essential Position and shall respond to any Critical Infrastructure Disaster and Hurricanes Season Activations .
