Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems and production equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components. This role troubleshoots equipment issues, completes repairs, and responds to building emergencies to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across all sites.
Job Requirements
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and production equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment failures using manuals, diagrams, schematics, and test instruments (e.g., multimeters, gauges).
- Document all maintenance activities, parts used, and time spent in the CMMS or designated logs.
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning)
- Inspect, maintain, and repair boilers, heat exchangers, air handlers, chillers, condensers, compressors, and associated controls.
- Replace filters, belts, bearings, and perform lubrication according to manufacturer schedules.
- Monitor system performance and adjust setpoints to maintain environmental conditions and energy efficiency.
Electrical Systems
- Assist with minor installations, terminations, and component replacements (e.g., contactors, relays, sensors).
Plumbing & Piping
- Install, maintain, and repair water supply lines, drains, valves, fixtures, pumps, and associated piping.
- Clear blockages, repair leaks, and ensure proper operation of backflow prevention and pressure regulation devices.
- Monitor and maintain adequate flow and temperature for building systems and process needs.
Carpentry, Masonry, Painting & General Building Repairs
- Perform minor carpentry (e.g., doors, frames, shelving, drywall repair), masonry/patching, and facility painting to maintain safe and presentable conditions.
- Repair and adjust hardware, ceiling tiles, flooring, and building finishes as needed.
Production Equipment & Mechanical Repairs
- Set up, maintain, and repair production machinery, conveyors, pneumatic/hydraulic components, and mechanical assemblies to support manufacturing operations.
- Perform alignment, tensioning, chain/sprocket replacement, bearing swaps, and seals.
- Collaborate with operations to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption, support equipment changeovers.
Emergency Response & On-Call Support
- Respond promptly to emergency calls for heating, electrical, plumbing, and other facility issues across all buildings, stabilizing conditions and preventing further damage.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Comply with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards including LOTO, PPE, confined space entry, hot work permits, and fall protection.
- Identify and report hazards; perform corrective actions and support root cause analysis.
- Maintain housekeeping in work areas; ensure proper labeling and guarding after repairs.
Materials, Tools & Inventory
- Maintain tools, test instruments, and equipment in safe working order.
- Track and request spare parts, consumables, and materials to avoid stockouts and reduce downtime.
- Verify parts specifications and substitutes to control costs and ensure fit/function.

- Complete work orders, PM checklists, and compliance records accurately and on time.
- Support audits and inspections by providing maintenance documentation and demonstrating system knowledge.

- Regular, predictable attendance is required;
- Other duties may be assigned.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and perform tasks in tight spaces.
Work Environment
Tolerance for hot/cold environments, noise, dust, and occasional exposure to chemicals (with proper PPE).
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and on-call as business needs require.
