Job Summary
This position is responsible for maintenance and repairs of the building and grounds of the Duvall Residential work release center (DRC) and leading DRC residential work crews in providing cleaning support for the building grounds, MCCC main office, and other details in the neighborhood as requested. Incumbent in this position is also responsible for accompanying and supervising justice involved community service work crews during their assignment in the community, transporting workers to and from various destinations, assigning duties and tasks to individuals, allocating and maintaining equipment, and verifying the exact hours completed by each individual through the maintenance of detailed records. Essential functions are regularly performed in a level one correctional facility, work release and in close proximity to justice-involved individuals. Incumbent has a wide latitude to make decisions guided by standard operating procedure related to public safety and staff safety, combined with offender safety and accountability to records management, maintenance and retention, and dissemination of customer information. Position requires initial and annual training in facility and personal safety and proper regulations and procedures for working with special populations. Incumbent in this position is on-call 24-hours a day seven (7) days a week. In the event of an emergency, this position takes on the role of a Community Corrections Officer. Position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent-Facility & Grounds.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have at least one (1) year experience. Must be able to perform manual labor tasks. Must be able to set up and operate all necessary equipment and machinery. Ability to work with others on many levels and create a team environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively under stress. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have experience in dealing effectively with other professionals and the public. Must have a general familiarity of the city. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Within thirty (30) days of hire, required to be trained in: CPR/AED, security & security threat groups, de-escalation skills, personal protection, Narcan, PREA, mental health & suicide prevention, constitutional rights of offenders, trafficking, criminal manipulation, trauma informed care/working with special populations, diversity in corrections, effective communication skills, defensive driving, and report writing, among others. Annual training also required, to include thirty (30) hours of Evidence Based Practices (EBP).

IMPORTANT PERF UPDATE:
Annuity Savings Account (ASA) -This consists of the mandatory employee contribution of three (3%) percent of compensation (made for the employee by the City), plus interest credits or earnings. Youre always vested in your ASA portion - its always yours.
Pension - The pension portion of the retirement benefit is funded by contributions made by the employer over the course of the employees career and separate from the annuity savings account. Employees enrolled in the PERF Hybrid plan are eligible for retirement benefits at age sixty-five (65) if they have ten (10) or more years of creditable service. After June 30, 1995, employees may retire at age sixty (60) with at least fifteen (15) years of credible service or if the members age in years plus the years of credible service equals at least 85 and the member is at least fifty-five (55) years of age. With fifteen (15) or more years of creditable service, the employee may retire as early as age fifty (50) with a reduced pension.
With the PERF My Choice: Retirement Savings Plan, the ASA is split up into two parts:
Part one - This consists of the mandatory employee contribution of three (3%) percent of compensation (made for the employee by the City), plus interest credits or earnings. Youre always vested in your ASA portion - its always yours.
Part two - This consists of an additional variable rate contribution paid by the City toward your ASA. This variable rate contribution is currently 1% of your gross wages. Vesting in the value of the variable rate employer contribution will vary by length of participation. You are:

The Indiana General Assembly has enacted a provision that allows public employees to make voluntary contributions in addition to the mandatory three percent (3%) contributions. Employees may contribute up to an additional ten- percent (10%) of their compensation per pay period to the annuity savings account. This means that the maximum level of contributions to the annuity savings account under this new provision is thirteen percent (13%) of an employees compensation per pay period.
