Position: Maintenance Assignment: Maintenance Painter Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Maintenance Lead Painter Pay Grade: AX550/260 days Dept./School: Facility Services Date Revised: Spring 2024 Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, provide a safe and secure learning environment though proper care of existing facilities, including repairs and preventive maintenance activity. Qualifications: Minimum Education/Certification: High School Diploma/GED Valid Texas Driver License Driving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier. Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Ability to read and write basic English Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (verbal) Three years' experience in commercial painting, and installation of multi wall finishes Knowledge of paints, stain, and finish materials. Knowledge of mixing paints. Knowledge of sprayed materials and spray booth. Knowledge of multi wall finishes Knowledge of taping and floating drywall Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work as a team Ability to productively work on assignments independently Possess a positive attitude. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Preparation for painting, caulking, sanding, patching. Brush, rolling, spray painting (metal works/exterior finishes). Woodwork: painting/staining/finish. Drywall work: tape and bed/texture/paint. Planning, purchasing of supplies, and matching colors. Receive and complete work orders. Use of scissor lifts for interior and exterior painting. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used. Maintain inventory of tools. Organize and request materials for the paint department. Trouble shoot paint material needed for variety of surfaces. Perform any other duties assigned by the Painter, Night Lead, or appropriate administrator. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Computer/handheld technology devices, Painting and drywall tools and equipment including brush, roller, spray equipment sand and water blaster; small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; forklift, scissor lift and boom lift; light truck or van and trailers Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel Maintain emotional control under stress OTHER: All employees are to follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
