Job Scope: The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing accurate job plans, coordinating third‑party resources, and building fully logic‑tied Primavera P6 schedules that support safe, efficient, and predictable maintenance and turnaround execution. This role ensures all work is planned, resourced, sequenced, and communicated with precision, using SAP and P6 as core tools. The duties are performed under general supervision in Conroe, TX.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Maintenance & Turnaround Planning
Develop detailed job plans including labor, materials, tools, equipment, permits, and safety requirements.
Build and maintain accurate work orders in SAP.
Review backlog, PMs, and TA scope to ensure all work is properly planned and prioritized.
Validate job readiness by confirming parts availability, access requirements, drawings, and field conditions.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to align on scope and constraints.
Support root‑cause and reliability efforts by analyzing maintenance history and failure patterns
Primavera P6 Scheduling
Build, maintain, and update detailed P6 schedules for turnaround events.
Develop WBS structures, calendars, logic ties, resource loading, and critical path analysis.
Perform advanced schedule analysis using Trace Logic, Schedule Log, Global Change, Claim Digger, and float path reviews.
Maintain schedule baselines and track progress, variances, and risks.
Produce clear Gantt charts, dashboards, and schedule reports for leadership and field teams.
Communicate schedule impacts, delays, and critical path shifts to stakeholders.
Third‑Party Contractor Management
Define clear scope, expectations, and deliverables for contractors.
Coordinate daily contractor activities, manpower levels, progress updates, and safety compliance.
Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and adherence to plan.
Ensure contractors follow site rules & safety standards
Safety & Compliance
Integrate safety requirements into all job plans and schedules.
Ensure all planned work aligns with site policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
Support safe execution by identifying hazards, access constraints, and sequencing risks.
Develop WBS structures, calendars, logic ties, resource loading, and critical path analysis.
Maintain schedule baselines and track progress, variances, and risks.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Degree in Construction Science, Building Science or advanced coursework is preferred.
Experience: Requires 7+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in SAP PM (work orders, materials, reservations, requisitions, BOMs, task lists).
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (logic development, resource loading, critical path, baselines).
Solid understanding of maintenance practices, equipment, and field execution.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Planning & Scheduling Skills
Attention to detail and strong organizational discipline.
Ability to build realistic job plans and fully logic‑tied schedules.
Strong analytical skills for identifying schedule risks, logic errors, and resource conflicts.
Ability to manage large volumes of work orders and schedule updates.
Communication & Leadership
Clear, concise communication with operations, maintenance, contractors, and leadership.
Ability to translate technical work into actionable plans for field crews.
Strong collaboration and conflict‑resolution skills.
Contractor Management
Proven ability to manage third‑party contractors in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
Skilled in monitoring performance, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance.
