    Internship Overview

    You won't be running coffee orders or shuffling paperwork this summer. At Fervo, interns are handed something real: a project of your own, scoped with your manager on day one and yours to drive for the full 12 weeks. You'll work side-by-side with the teams building the next generation of geothermal energy, tackling problems that genuinely move the business forward. At the end of the summer, you'll present your work to our executive leadership team, department leads, and fellow interns, sharing real results with a real audience. This is a real seat at the table - and a real shot at what comes next.

    Position Description

    Fervo Energy is developing next-generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon-free energy at scale. Our flagship Cape Station development in Milford, Utah is one of the largest next-generation geothermal developments in the world, and our Houston headquarters houses the engineering, commercial, and corporate teams driving Fervo's growth. You'll support the Maintenance Engineering team in developing and improving maintenance practices across Fervo's operating assets.

    Responsibilities

    • Support development of preventive maintenance plans and schedules
    • Develop, facilitate and maintain asset criticality lists, FMEA's, RCAs, etc.
    • Assist with reliability and failure analysis for key equipment
    • Help maintain maintenance documentation and CMMS data
    • Support cross-site coordination on maintenance best practices

    Required Qualifications

    • Rising Junior, Senior, Master's candidate wrapping up within the next year - we're building a pipeline toward full-time offers
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership
    • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges
    • Enrolled in technical degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Candidates based in or near Milford, UT strongly preferred
    • Interest in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
    • Interest in equipment reliability and maintenance strategy
    • Demonstrated course or extracurricular work indicative of interest in Renewable Energy or Climate technology.
    • Comfort working with technical and field data
