LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Maintenance Repairer 1 or 2.

This is skilled trades work assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing structures, equipment, finishes and accessories across all maintenance trades. Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR

Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Installs, maintains, alters, repairs and removes simple electrical fixtures, interior light fixtures, light machinery, electrical outlets and switches
  • Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs plumbing fixtures, toilets, unclog sink/toilet/tub drains
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Performs demolition and construction work on minor projects as assigned throughout the entire campus
  • Adheres to all federal, state, local, campus, and department safety regulations during the performance of assigned duties
  • Special events work; b) campus maintenance emergencies
  • Assists other trades in their duties (plumbers, electricians, locksmiths, carpenters, sign shop and painters) when needed

Position-Specific Details:

The person applying must possess a valid Drivers License.

This position requires the employee to pass a Qualification process to be promoted to a Maintenance Repairer 2.

Location: LSU Health New Orleans 1901 Perdido St. New Orleans LA 70112

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Appointment Type: Probationary Appointment

Compensation: Starting rate is $17.18 for the Maintenance Repairer 1 and $19.67 for the MR 2 with an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased dependent upon applicants' qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug testing, Physical and Criminal Background check are required.
